Seat Belt Warning Disable?

Post by iflyfast1 »

Has anybody figured out how to turn the darn thing off? I just bought an 06 Baja Turbo last week. I love this truck :D , but the seat belt warning chime drives me nuts. I tend to start the car and let it warm up for a minute or two while I'm getting everything sorted before putting my seat belt on. The thing goes off, then stops, and then it starts all over again. Any ideas of what I need to unplug for an easy fix?

It's supposedly in the manual

I have read before that you have to do something like click and unclick the seatbelt 20 times inside of 30 seconds. I have not done this yet, but I want to.

Before anyone jumps on me, I am not suggesting that anyone drive without a seatbelt. There are times when you are sitting in park where that chime is obnoxious (warming the car up, getting out your wallet at the drive-thru, etc.)

Is the chime new for '06? My '05 has no chime.

I found this link: http://members.cox.net/kamartin/seatbelt.html
It says you have to buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 20 times within 30 seconds with the ignition on but motor not running. I'll try it tonight and see if it works.

Let's make it easy:

[quote]
Cutoff Function for Seat Belt warning chime
(Works for the 2005 Outbacks and Legacys, too)

Warning: I am in no way responsible for anyone’s safety...just posting this as a convenience.

1. Turn the key to “ONâ€Â

OK. So I tried this last night, and it works! I still get the initial warning when I first start it, but I don't get the repetitive warning every 15 seconds or so(at least not during the couple of minutes I'm letting it warm up). I'm happy :D , and you can't ask for an easier fix than that.

Awesome! I've been reading this thread, wondering if it would work. My '05 doesn't chime. Kind of makes me want it to just so I can turn it off.

My 03 does not have that chime and it seems kinda annoying to have to buckle and unbuckle 20 times, but hey, if it will kill the annoying noise I guess it is worth it. Good for you!

Disconnecting the two pole connector under the drivers seat '06 also gets the job done.

:D I did the click and unclick twenty times thing in my '06 baja and it worked! Now all I get is the intitial warning when I start it, but after that it is quiet. It's nice to not be annoyed by the warning chime constantly. Good luck.

There are a few tricks on the scoobys that are done like this. If I remember correctly to change the alarm from chirp on arm/disarm to silent it is a pattern of turn the key on to accessory then back off, open and close the door 3 times and then turn on to accessory again. Or maybe it uses the door lock? I think it's in the manual. And if the arm/disarm key fob is not working (anyone know the expected life of the batteries? Still have the originals in my 03 keys.) once you manually enter the vehicle (with the alarm going off... yay.) you need to turn the key off and on (accessory) 5 or more times in a certain period of time to disable the alarm. I wonder if there are any more items like this? Maybe something to change the thermometer from F to C, or to inside cabin temp? Why does it say "OUT" anyway?

I assume it says out menaing 'outside' temperature? It would be nice to be able to switch it around to inside temperature if you desired.

Maybe we need to start a semi-official list of all of these little things.

Ok, we have licked the seatbelt, now how about the doors, can i open then and close them 13 times in 15 seconds or something ? :D

Honestly who figured this out ?

Anyway, any thoughts on the door buzzer ? be nice to be able to open my door, and listen to music, without the annoying buzzer....

TIA

8) Okay, how about a way to unlock all four doors with one click of the remote instead of two? I t would be nice to have that option when you have two little kids to get in the car and strapped in.
Also, how about a way to enable a horn honk when locking the car with the remote instead of the little electronic beep. Nice when locking car as walking away....horn honks=car locked.
