03 Baja Hitch Wiring Question..
I want to install the hitch and wiring myself. I found out how to install the hitch which looks super easy. But I can't find anything on the wiring. Do they make a direct plug in? or do I have to tap into existing wires. I'm not even sure where the hook up is. There's videos all over the place for installing the hitch, but no pictures or videos on the wiring. Any help would be awesome!

Re: 03 Baja Hitch Wiring Question..
The baja is pre-wired for a hitch harness. Look under your car near the right rear wheel well and you should find a plug that goes nowhere. If I recall it is just inboard of the sill and ends a little behind the rear axle area. Beware that the plug has a dummy cap on it to keep all the dirt out that has to be removed, and it is a major pain to remove. If/Once you find the plug, Subaru makes a direct plug and play "T" harness that requires no cutting or splicing. I believe there are other aftermarket harnesses that may plug in, but not sure as I kept mine oem...
Peace!

I bought an aftermarket direct fit plug and it came with directions. Showed the factory plug and location. Was very easy to do.

I wired mine myself, removed both tail lights, ran wires, took about 3 hours. Yeesh!

Wow; where did you buy the aftermarket plug? That sounds so simple. The hitch is the easy part, wiring is something I'd rather not spend hours on if a direct fit plug is available!johnep wrote:I bought an aftermarket direct fit plug and it came with directions. Do a quick search on Amazon. I got a bunch of easy-to-do stereo/speaker wiring from it/them and I'm pretty sure you'll find some good stuff cheap and easy for your application.

Amazon links for the correct harness...

The cool magnetic mounting bracket (this was the fourth bracket I tried... Don't recommend the others that Amazon recommends)...
