How to Store your A.R.E cap

Post by dalerich »

I just bought my BAJA a few weeks ago, and I was looking for a way to store the cap. It's nice, but I bought it for it's look, topless.
So after much searching I found this lift system that many have been using to lift other truck caps and Jeep hardtops with. Racor PHL-1R Pro HeavyLift can hold 250 pounds and worked out pretty well. Walmart and Amazon are the lowest cost ($125) places to buy one. In my case I scored one on CL that was new in box from a Jeep guy who never got around to installing it. Took a lot of cranks to lift it, but it's kinda nice how slow it moves as you try to lift up, or line it up coming down. Still got space above the lift to store extra parts now too! Time to start working on my bed cover.

Very Nice! I've had plans in my head for a home made job very similar to this idea, but haven't got to it yet. I like the rack staying there to hold the extra parts up...

Peace!
