Greetings.
I have a 2006 Turbo and it still shows no sign of rust - yeah!! Even on earlier car years I see no rust.
Have any of you encountered rust and if so where? With the plastic panels I can understand why rust might be delayed. Is there any chance of the rust getting behind the plastic and me waking up to a big surprise one day?
I only ask as this is my all time favorite car and I plan on keeping it until it dies. I also wonder about the future availability of baja-specific parts as many are already hard to come by and parts cars are virtually non-existent.
Thanks.
David

Re: Rust
Very small amount of rust on my 03 Baja. Its behind the passenger side right below the rear seat before it turns into the bottom half of the car (mine is black and silver, so its the 3-4 inches of black metal before it turns into the silver bottom). Its maybe the circumference of the top of a soda can, not structural and can't even see it from the outside, the door covers it.
Going to sand off the major rust, put on some bondo and paint it, not worried about it matching the color or anything because it is incredibly unnoticeable.

Re: Rust
Same place on mine. I've heard that was the most common spot for rust.
Re: Rust
In the space between the wheel well and body is likely rusting. They never sealed the seam around it by the tire just used a plastic clip. I found it when I cut up my first baja. This runs down into that area by the rear door which is why the rust starts in there.
