Mystery wire poking out from undercarriage

I just noticed a set of three wires hanging from under the left part of the rear bumper. They are electrical taped off and white, tan, and yellow in color. Any idea what this could be for?

There's no towing package. Any reason for there to be trailer lights w/ a receiver?

My mercury mariner had no tow receiver before I installed one. Wiring was installed except for trailer plug. A picture with help however.
