Hello all! I will soon be witgin your ranks...

Post by BBoley24 »

Hello. I am feverishly looking for a turbo Baja here in Pennsylvania. I have found one in a town about three hours away from where I am at. I'll be going to inspect it through and through. Any tips as to what seems to be regular issues? I understand the banjo bolt ordeal but I won't know more on that until I drop the pan and see the real damage if any. Rust spots would be my main concern. Any pointers?

Did you get the truck? The banjo bolt issue is common to many Subarus and any car that used the screen in bolt design. Pulling the screen from the bolt will prevent any future damage and you can see if you were clogged up at all. Other than that the trucks are pretty much bullet proof, rust is fairly uncommon on modern Subarus, they have excellent rust proofing and good quality steel. Older (EA81,EA82) Subarus were crazy reliable in terms of the drivetrain but they all seem to turn to dust. My neighbor joked the other day that he saw a Brat for sale on ebay that came in a ziplock baggie, not far from the truth.

Well it's been an interesting turn of events.

I got a call from the dealership and he told me that the car was in such bad shape he had to put it up for auction.

Then, two days later, one popped up in Pittsburgh less than an hour from me.

2005 AT Turbo with all of the bells and whistles. 96k miles

I am definitely overpaying but it's got everything that I want. Still trying to get the title apparently so ive been waiting on it for nearly a month now.
