Need a new muffler soon

Post by bajaman »

I'm going to need a new muffler soon, as i can hear a hole broke out somewhere, could be in the pipe and not the muffler itself.

Should i just go stock again, or is there a muffler after market that is good for the Baja Turbo ?

Depends on how much you want to spend. In all honesty when I had a hole pop in my muffler I went to a local shop and a cheap no name turbo muffler put on. Made the exhaust note a little deeper, but not really louder. $85 locally, and shed a few lbs from.

If you want to spend a little more, pretty much anything can be attached with a 2.5" inlet. I attached an STI muffler from 04 to mine here recently to see how well it sounded. Sounded just like the STI's from that time, love it but going to a 3" full exhaust soon.

Thanks for the reply. I had a look under the car, and its not the muffler itself, but a hole blew thru the pipe before it gets to the muffler, right around one of the joint / brace areas of pipe. If the muffler is still good with no holes, could i get just that section of pipe replaced instead?

While I'd like to get a throatier sound, i don't want to pay alot of money for a custom job.

From what I hear, if you replace anything with performance parts on a turbo you really need to tune the ecu to match/accept it. You probably can just replace the pipe or you could go to the local parts store and get a repair kit.
