NEW TO THE BAJA, A FEW QUICK QUESTIONS

Post by Mr.Chow »

I've owned many subarus in the past, but this is my first Baja. It's a 04' Turbo and clean as can be. My questions are as follows.

1. I believe it shares the same chassis as the legacy, so when sourcing an exhaust should I look for one that fits a leggy?

2. Can someone recommend a lift kit?

3. Does anyone know how to fix the damn gas door not shutting properly? It seems like everyone I know that owns one of these has this issue.

Thank you, and this beast is quickly becoming my favorite subaru.

1 - Yes, 00-04 Leg/OB's have the same chassis. In 05 the Leg/OB chassis changed, but the Baja stayed the same untill production ended in 07

2 - I used this one on my 03; http://www.subtle-solutions.com/product ... cts_id=125
I'm happy with it, but it is not very complex, if you have the ability to machine your own blocks, you can easily do that.

3 - There are 2x10mm bolts holding the hinge plate to the body. Remove them and pull the door/hinge assembly out, this gives you access to clean and lube the hinge.

#3 - as for the gas door, there originally was a recall or technical service memo out on this issue back about 5 years ago, not sure if it is still valid. I had mine replaced on my '03 at the time.

#3. I was skeptical that just cleaning and lubing the gas door would fix it but it really worked.

Mine has not done that yet. I will have to keep that in mind for the future.

there is a guy on youtube that has fitted a WRX downpipe turboback system system to his Baja

not sure if posting links to other sites here is aloud but here goes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaADBYLuobk

If the link has any issues with being on here just goto YT and search for 2005 subaru baja turboback exhaust fab.wmv

Hope this helps

I like the questions you have asked as I am now in the same boat. Just picked up my 04 baja turbo 4 days ago! :)

That's 3 of us then, as I got mine 5 weeks ago. I want a different pipe but as I said in my other thread I started elsewhere in the forums it cant be too loud for me as the car idles in the winter at 430am so I have to think of the neighbors, btw nice car.

WOW!!! you managed to get the same color as me, what a coincidence. 8) I'm hoping to get a response from a member on nasioc on the dp thing today, I'll let you all know. I NEED MOAR POWA!!! <----[ I'm not that guy, but it's an honest statement. I"m probably going to do a stealth setup using the factory exhaust and a 3'' cutout.
