Suggestions for Write-ups.

Post by Rizzo »

I'd like to contribute here.

I'd like some suggestions on Write-ups I can do on a 2003 5MT.

I will include step by step photos and follow Factory Torque specs and such, This will be some by the book shit.

I will at a later date put up some Mod Write-ups as I come up with them.

Good suggestions. Here's my stumbling block on those. The first 3 will require me to do more than I was going to and will require parts and or money. This does NOT mean I will not do them, It's just going to take some time.

The Third. Gorilla has some very steep pricing, He's kinda bonkers. I may not ever purchase products from him.

The Body Panel is very intriguing. I'm going to do that first I think.

I also have a sound in the right rear, Possible warped rotor or stone behind it or both. When I chase that down I will do one for Brakes.

I would really like to do the things I see some of you may not be able to do yourselves that you would do often. I'd like to enpower that one person to do their own brakes or plugs.

I'd also like to do a Tech in your Pocket segment too. Here's how to find a misfire, Here's how to identify a noise and things like that.

What do you guys think ?

A body cladding removal/reinstall write-up would be great. I've been wanting to peek behind them for possible rust, to clean and wax, and to replace the discolored rubber edge molding.

No, I figured a dealer or body shop could get it. Since Subaru uses cladding quite a bit it doesn't seem like it would be discontinued.

I, too, have a 2003 5 speed manual (non-turbo).
I'm curious about what would be involved in raising our '03 to get the same ground clearance as the '04-'06 models. I believe there's about a 1" difference, but if it's easy to do, I'd love to raise it up a bit. I'm theorizing that it's only a difference of replacing some '03 parts with some '04 parts, but God only knows how wrong I could be.

Good luck, (and thanks for your willingness!)

The 03/04 are the same height The 05/06 are one inch taller and that is due to the strut and spring setup. But I'm not sure if you can replace just the spring, or have to replace both...if you have a good amount of miles i would just do the struts and springs together...
