Baja struts from sister years or models

Post by NewMaineGuide »

I have a 2003 baja and am wondering what it takes to put taller struts and springs on it without stressing everything else to the point of having to change our drive shafts and so on. Does anyone know if 2006 struts and springs will work? Has anyone used sister model struts and springs on an 03?

The 04-06 Bajas used taller spring in all 4 corners with only the rear struts being different. I'm not 100% on this, but Im petty sure you can just swap all 4 springs and have the extra lift. I my self have been looking to do this and was going to buy KYB struts which I believe is what the OEM ones are however I can only find them for the 03 Baja, not the 04-06 rears.

I am really hoping that is how it can work too. I would really like to not have to change our arms, drive shafts, ect....

Go for it. It is an easy swap. I did this on my 03 and gained exactly 1" all around. The 05/06 springs and rear struts are a direct swap. I have also since added 1" strut spacers between the body and strut tops for an additional inch all around. No problems with my axle shafts in about 2 years. I did not change the front struts because as mentioned above, only the rears changed part numbers on 04+...

So does that mean if I want to install Legacy wagon strutt assemblies in my 03 Baja, they would bolt right up? They appear to sit lower than the Baja.

I'm not wanting to create a low rider or anything but I'd actually would like to drop it an inch or two.

I have no idea about the height of the legacy struts. I "think" the bolt pattern is the same 2-bolt top as the baja, which "should" bolt up, but I cant confirm that. My only experience was swapping later model baja struts into my '03 baja. Sorry cant be more help...
