Hard-to-Find Part Challenge

Post by KensAudio »

I propose this thread for folks looking for hard-to-find parts, for those who can help, and for those who have come up with home-baked solutions or work-arounds which might be easier than finding the part in question.

I'll start with the following:
My two front seat belts have lost the little plastic button which prevents the buckle from sliding all the way to the floor (when the belt is retracted after exiting the vehicle). Having to dig in tight spaces near the floor for the buckle each time I get in has gotten severely annoying. I tried a couple of hair barrettes; they were colorful, and I got the right size to span the webbing, but as it usually ends up digging into one's belly, it was uncomfortable. Similarly, I found a couple of plastic clips used to (re-)seal potato chip bags and such. They stayed in place better than the barrettes, and were quite inexpensive, but also poked one's belly.

Can anyone help me find either the part that's supposed to do this job, or a suitable substitute?

Got mine from the Subaru dealer. But they would work from any car manufacturer. They are all basically the same thing.

I may just order this.

I'd heat up a small screwdriver so I would melt a hole that's smaller that the pin. Then apply the stop.

You'd never lose it!
