Is it time to say good-bye?

Post by Denver_guy »

I'm torn.... I like the 2013 Legacy's. The "new to US" Eyesight technology is pretty cool and I think it's time to say good-bye to my scooby.

reasons for: New tech cool (GPS). Better safety features (side airbags, stability control, Eyesight). 36K of no major repairs. Better gas milage. No more shifting =). Only one weekend I have I ever filled up the bed on a house cleaning mission. A TRUNK!. Cold weather package (a thing I hate about my Morris the most is the way snow and ice and slush can collect in odd places on the windshield).

reasons against: I LOVE MY BAJA! It's fun to drive. I love a stick shift. It's never let me down in any weather. (I'm talking Colorado blizzards, I-70 rush hour/ski hour/snowing/crap weather/yes it can go almost anywhere). I'm not a sedan guy (saloon for those of you in the UK). It's tweaked the way I like it... tinted windows, debadged, custom front seat apolstry. It's just enough higher off the ground that i don't wince when running over things.... I've gotten over the "OH MY GOSH THERE"S A TINY DING ON MY DOOR! YOU BASTARDS" feeling. (it's now character). It's still got another 60k miles in it. it's ME.

I don't know what to do, and keeping the baja? and getting a new ride? well... there's like 2 reasons for that, and 100 against.

I don't know what to do, honestly. I've spent the last few weeks reading everything I can on the 2013 Legacy. Ive even downloaded all the manuals for Subaru. Crazy.

(edit): still have not made the plunge... got a really nice quote on the 2013 Legacy but the trade was a bit light... 11,500 for a 2006, 63K miles, great shape... donno... plus i feel it's like the ugly pretty girl.. one day i love the Legacy, the next, it's ugly...

My daily driver is now a 100% electric Nissan Leaf. I bought my 2005 Baja new, and plan on keeping it. The Baja is useful for Ikea runs and bad weather!

I'm with Jaxed.

I bought my 2005 new, it has almost 140K and I still love it.

I bought a 2012 Fiat 500 as my commuter car to keep the miles down on the Baja for when I really need it.

Looking forward to when I HAVE to drive it!

I'm into "old school" Fiats! I got a 124 Spider, 131 Brava and Yugo. OK the Yugo is more of a cousin. Reskined Fiat 127.

I don't think I could part with my Baja. We really don't get that much snow in East Tennessee down here in the valley but I an constantly hauling stuff in mine. Stuff you wouldn't want to haul inside a car. Such as garbage. My family generates more garbage that you can imagine and sometimes I have to make a trip down to the landfill when my can is full. Other items like gasoline cans. I sometimes make a trip to Virginia just to buy pure gas. Such as 30 gallons at a time. Propane tanks, etc.

Keep the baja and wait a year so that you can get like a 2012 or 13 used and get that instead of trading the baja in.
