Hi - My '06 Baja Turbo needs a new engine. I have lost half the pressure in 1 cylinder and the computer diagnostic says another is going to go – if it’s not already. (It tested fine though)
Does anyone know of options besides a new engine from Subaru?
(I priced 1 rebuild and it was the same as new)
If I can find a used engine, do I have to replace it with an engine from this exact model?
*I'm in south Florida.
This is my 4th Subaru, and unfortunately the first I bought brand new. All the others lasted well over 300k miles, but this engine failed at 70K!!!
I gotta replace my 06 turbo engine!?

can't be much help but thought I would share, just in case you have extended warrenty. exact same thing happend to my 06 baja, at 75k 2 cylinders lost compression. engine had to be rebuilt. I was going to pay for my self, but in the last minute i remembered buying extended warranty when i bought the car (i bought it as used in 2008). Luckily they covered all the cost for all replacements of parts and rebuild about $4k.

Crasch -
I am in a very similar situation. Misfires on cylinder 3 since 75,000 miles. Misfires got progressively worse, and cylinder 3 now has 0 compression (at 100,000 miles). I am in central Florida, and am looking for a replacement turbo engine for my 2006 Baja Turbo.
I have found options for 2004 and 2005 engines, but none for the 06. Did you ever find out if these years are compatible? How did your Suby turn out?
Thanks,
Mason

All Baja turbo engines are the same, the year doesnt matter
Re: I gotta replace my 06 turbo engine!?
I found a mechanic who builds racing engines here in south Florida - he had experience rebuilding aluminium engines. I am 4 months and 5k miles into it now, and it seems to be fine. (this cost 1/3 the amount of a new replacement)
