What is this? What does it do? How important is it to replace? Thanks.

It's part of the tubing on intake system. That particular piece is a collector? to catch things in the airflow prior to the filter. Open the hood and follow your black triangular air intake piece on top of the radiator. It leads to a mess of tubing on the passenger side just in front of the shock tower. The piece that fell of came from underside of one of the tubes in this mess. That whole mess of tubing is the intake "resonator". It is supposed to quiet the intake. No one really knows for sure what/if it really does anything other than restrict your air flow. Most of us rip all that out and get an intake tube. There is a thread floating around this site (that I have actually done) for a really cheap & easy way to bypass all that and really clean up that area. I'll look later to see if I can dig it up...

I've been running this setup for about a year now & have no problems what so ever. Real cheap & easy mod. I loved getting rid of all the black tubing crap...
