Rattle in the front right
Hey guys, i hopped in my Baja today to run to the office and i heard a rattle that sounded like it came from the front end twards the right side. it only rattles in 2nd and 3rd gear in between 1800 and 2200 RPM's. sometimes it rattles in 1st gear in the same range of RPM's but its very rare. I'm really hoping that it isn't a transmission problem and there is just something loose that rattles at that frequency. But when I put the car in park or Neutral and rev it to those RPM's I can't get it to rattle at all. but the second I put it in gear and start driving it does it again. this literally started this morning so I'm hoping to catch it early whatever it is.

Re: Rattle in the front right
I may have the same rattle and after lots of banging around under my 2003 Baja, I've come to the conclusion that it's coming from the catalytic converter. I've bought a new one and will be putting it in soon. I hope it gets rid of the rattle.
Re: Rattle in the front right
Yup, that cured it. The rattle I had was a loose core in the catalytic converter. My 2003 (138,000 mi) is now quiet again.

catalytic converter is very expensive and unlikely to be of it. When I was a rattle of metal seat of the exhaust manifold, if not take care of tightening I just stuck a piece of sheet metal to be stuck.

It is probably a heat shield. mine rattles in the same range, I used some strips of sheet metal I have laying around and made a wedge out of it to quiet it down.
