Optima Battery

Post by canuck37 »

I'm in the market for a new battery before winter. Am leaning towards the extra $ for an Optima RT based on all the research I have done. I have a 2003 automatic NA and it looks like the Optima model # is the 8020-164 version (35).

However, the website cautions that a "battery height adapter" may be necessary and that one should "check hood clearance".

Just curious if any of you that are running Optimas, expecially in cold country, have had any issues with these cautions??

I don't really live in a cold area, but I sure live in a wet one! I haven't had any issues with my RT Optima at this point. It's taking some abuse too. I have an amp, subwoofer, a total of 8 offroad lights, etc and the battery is handling it like a champ! From what I've been reading, I might have to upgrade my alternator. But so far, everything has been working fine.

I bought the Optima last month and have since moved to the interior of British Columbia. It went in fine, no fitment issues, and works great!
