brat timing troubles
so..i am having a rediculous time with the brat i recently purchased. when i got it it tended to cut out alot and i discovered that whoever put the carb back in after rebuilding it put the throttle cable on wrong, easy fix... then it ran fine until it got good and heated up when it would start cutting out almost to the point of being undriveable. so i took it to my mechanic who said it was most likely the distributor going bad. i went out and bought a distributor and decided to put it in myself...first i put in in in the wrong timing spot because i forgot to mark it, so i had to pull it out and do it again, but when all was said and done i had it lined up perfect according to the repair manual, but when its in the right spot it wont start. so i ran out of ideas and started playin with it and oddly enough it will start when the distributor cap is on backwards( yes i checked and it is infact backwards) but runs rough as hell, but thats the only time it will run right now. im not an amazing mechanic by any means and right now im stumped so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Re: brat timing troubles
It sounds like you put the distributor in 180 degrees off. (backwards, so to speak)
