Remote Keyless Entry

Post by SCF »

So everywhere I've read says that the Bajas came standard with keyless entry. Is this actually so? Bought my Baja used and it didn't come with remotes. Any way that I can locate a module on the car to verify that it does in fact have keyless?

keyless is a standard feature. i dont know the location exactly (drivers or passengers) but it should be under the dash somewhere pretty visible.

It seems like they changed the style of remotes depending on which model year you have. For descriptions of the different remotes see here

The remotes can be programmed yourself fairly easily. My 2003 accepts up to 4 remotes (comes with only 2), so I got 4 remotes. They sell for less than $20 per remote on ebay, and at least for the 2003 the instructions to program them are at this site:http://www.cars101.com/subaru_archives.html
Under BAJA Click your model year and search for remote programming instructions. OR Just check here

For 2003 model, the instruction to "Reset" (step 5) is how you program it.

The module on the 2003 Sport is a small black box under the steering column, and there is also a small receiver under the hood inside the hood relay/fuse compartment.
