Ok now Im going to show how shelted a life I live Why are they called ScoobyTrucks? and I would like to know if average insurance is alot higher on the turbo's or about the same. I got to drive both types today and the turbo model was better for me (more Power ). also is there much trouble with the turbo's after say 70,000 to 80,000 miles. alot to ask in one post I know but easier for my poor mind .
P.S. I found one dealer 77 miles from me with 5 for sell. I seen 2 on the street while I was test driving today, Lafayette, In. must be the capital city for Baja owners in Indiana.
as far as the scoobytruck thing goes, all subarus have the nickname scooby or sube. scooby is a play or words sort of. subaru and scoobydoo if said right sound very similar. as the name goes on it gets shortened until your left with scooby. the brat and the baja are the only truck like vehicles that subaru produced so the term scoobytruck emcompasses all the brats/bajas and sets us apart from the rest of the sube crowd.
now i personally think the n/a has enough power and torque for most everyday driving. for the times that i think i need a turbo to get around someone i realize i can be safer and just fall back and if the awd doesn't get me off the line faster than them i really shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. the frame is the same between the two so there is no towing advantage, except for the swaybars its the same suspension so change those out and it doesn't turn quicker, with that said the shocks and springs are the same so it doesn't haul more, all you get is more acceleration, oh and the chance to by premium gas.
i can't comment on insurance cause mine in VA will be different than someone in WA with a different deductable, and different company.
g\l with your choice it isn't any easy one, but just make sure you get a baja and its all good.
Thanks speedymatt I appreciate the info I did find out insurance between the turbo and non turbo is only a few bucks difference a month so it all comes down to the condition of the Baja when I decide to buy. thanks all for the comments. Although I do like the look of the turbo hood
