New to board and Subaru ownership, have a ?.

Post by sc00ter »

First off, hello to all. Its nice to know our little Baja has a following! I ended up buying a 05 Baja from Carmax over the weekend. It wasnt even listed on their web site- a true surprise since I went there looking for a Toyota Tacoma. Its everything I thought it would be, basically awesome! The only thing missing is those door window vents that let you leave the windows cracked in the rain and not get wet. I have some on the Camry but cannot find any listed for the Baja. Is it the same as a 05 Legacy as far as the doors are concerned? Also, who has fair prices online for accessories and parts? Thanks for any advice or help and I will try to post pics of the little monster as soon as I get a camera. Take care and have fun. Scooter

well since the windows dont have frames around the tops, its going to be hard to find vents that are really going to be worth it. There really isnt anything for those vents to stick to, if you stuck them to the truck right above the window, depending on how far they came down, you wouldnt be able to open your door with the window all the way up. or it would hit the vent thinging. If you understand what Im saying. I think someone around here found an application that seemed to work for them, but I dont think you'll find anything baja specific. But I could be wrong as Ive never looked for them myself. On a different note, welcome to Scoobytruck!!! This website has a good bit of info for Baja owners, and we all like to help each other out. Its kind of a small board, but I think that makes it more personal. Have fun with your truck and welcome to the community!!

Edit* Please update your location info for us too! Region or state would work great, Thanks!!!

O.K., that wasnt to hard to add my location on. I go to Northern VA alot. My sister lives in Fairfax and I love Jaxx Nightclub for concerts. Actually my girl is more excited than me about the Baja. She was asking me if the owners had meets and such. I had a 64 Impala lowrider for awhile but we sold it and I have not had the urge to replace it, so I guess this is our new toy. Your right about the windows, I feel stupid. I'm ordering the hood and sunroof deflectors ASAP, and then see what bike rack kit will do best with a Rans Fusion and a chopper bike. Gotta haul the bicycles! Well thats it for now, type ya later.

Welcome to the forums! I agree, it would be nice to have some sort of rain shield for the windows. If you figure something out, let us know!

hey scooter welcome to the club. there are a couple of us in the area but nothing organized. i live in chesapeake and work in norfolk (newtown area) so i hope i see you around.

as for the window deflectors i had a 96 impreza wagon that had dealer deflectors mounted on the car they worked at speed but not so much at a standstill because they had to be short for the frameless window. i havn't seen any for the recent models though. also there is little to no aftermarket support for the baja.

see ya 'round.

Throwing in the towel on the side window vents. Instead I got stupid and looked into upgrading the stereo. Trying the Keep It Simple Stupid "KISS" theory yet still get good results. Will cost me a bit of money but we will keep this car for the long haul so it will be money well spent as far as Im concerned. Oh, and who is the yellow/gray Baja I always see on 64/264 always heading east? Ive seen you before I bought my Baja and still see you alot? Just curious as seeing your car gave me hope and motivation to find my own Baja. That yellow really stands out on the road.

Just a stupid tidbit of info, a Genuine Buddy scooter JUST fits in the back of a Baja. Not that Genuine scooters break down often but still good to know. Picked mine up from Richmond this weekend. Those SnugTop hard covers are a pain to remove by yourself but obviously not impossible or too difficult. WILL have my girl help me put it back on.

Cool. You should get a picture and post here - http://scoobytruck.com/bb/viewtopic.php ... &start=225
You might end up very surprised how much the Baja actually hauls. The bed size is deceiving :D

Yes, I agree about the pictures! Trying to find a nice "simple, idiot proof" camera still. My girl wants one since we seem to miss alot of good picture moments. Any ideas toward a good one? I personally dont care for hi-tech goods, I LOVE music and dont even have an Ipod device, I still buy CD's and vinyl. But I am tired of not having a camera.
