I just sent my check off for a 03 baja sport, dark blue, with bed cap and 122k with the timing belt/water pump, tune-up and new tires 10k ago. So my question is, what are the differences that they did to the outback platform to make it a baja? Basically what would be the difference between a 03 outback and an 03 baja besides the obvious? Thanks for your input.

no real big differences in the areas you mentioned. for 03-04 the baja and outback share the same suspension thus the same ground clearance minus a few hundreths for the bajas extra weight. drivetrain is also the same 4eat auto or 5 speed with the exception of the baja getting a standard rear LSD. its basically the same body down to the wheel base the difference being 6" were added to the rear overhang of the baja for a more useful bed length.
03-06 the baja for the most part was unchanged. i think the only real change was the 05 model got the 1" gain in ground clearance due to longer springs and in 04 they started using the 4eat trans with the sport shift option. in 05 the legacy and outback got a redesign to the current body style and the differences are obvious.

Folks,
I wanted to point out that the Baja is based off of the Legacy platform. The Outback wagon has that raised 'touring roof'.

but the outback SEDAN didnt..... and it still had the raised suspension that we did.
I dont think the outback or legacy had the silver trim on the inside like we do

I also think the '04 Baja got the taller suspension. I think only the '03 is the 'short' one. Am I mistaken?
