Goodyear Assurance Tripletreads
We recently put a set on my wife's Taurus
and I was very impressed with their Handling
and both the Wet & Dry Traction
I figured that if they work that well
on a front wheel drive car
they would be even better with AWD
So, when I bought my Baja
I had the dealer take off the Potenzas
and put on a set of Goodyear Assurance
It cost me extra but the difference is worth it
(& I test drove with the Potenzas twice)

I never liked the Potenzas either. Currently, I have BF Goodrich Traction T/A tires. They handle great under all conditions. The down side is that they wear very quickly.
Jeffsmith,
How is the tread wear on the Goodyear Assurance Tripletread? Someone did suggest that tire to me, but besides handling, tread wear is also important to me.

According to Goodyear; Assurance are 80,000 mile Tires
I Just put them on both the cars
So I cant give a long term test on the Assurance in particular
But...
I have Always had good luck with Goodyears
Treadwear, General Durabilty Etc.
Even when I have "mistreated" them
by running them hard constantly on a FWD Taurus
& using them offroad in my old Eagle SX4

The Subie is the 6th vehicle
I have taken Firestone/Bridgestones off of
and put on Goodyears as Replacements
Twice when the others failed for no apparent reason
Goodyears have never let me down
Make sure to get the Roadhazard Coverage
I once had to pay only $20 for an almost new $80 tire
because I had the coverage
One of the main reasons I got the Assurance
is that their dry wet traction #'s are the same according to Goodyear
Now this doesnt mean they grip the same wet or dry
it means it relation to other comparable tires
they have the best traction possible in either condition
I dont intend to try their ice and snow handling
I plan never to live in a place that has signs that say
"Bridge Freezes before Roadway"

I would go back to the dealer and see if there is a warranty "of some sort"
1 month New tires should NOT fail for no apparent reason
You probably really dont want or need all ths information but here goes
82 Eagle SX4
when the stock tires (Dont remember make) wore out
I put GY Wranglers on and went 4 wheeling
Yeah I know it takes car tires and I put on truck tires but I was young
they lasted a long time
90 Ford Taurus
Nearly New FSTN Tire Blew at 4am after a long drive
for no apparent reason !!!
Next day I got 4 GY Eagle ST's
(I "abused" them with hard driving, but they lasted well)
98 Ford Contour
FSTN Tire also blew for no apparent reason
Next day 4 GY Eagle LS
(Ran over a nail: Roadhazard Coverage
$20 to replace almost new $80 Tire)
99 Ford Ranger
Firestone Recall: Ford put on the new Wranglers on their dime
Ford Sport -Trac
came with GY Wranglers so just replaced with same
03 Ford Taurus
Continentals wore out quickly
GY Assurance Triple Tread
06 Subaru Baja
Had Dealer put on Assurance Triple Treads
before I took delivery
after driving the Potenzas a few times
I have no financial interest in GY
just a satisfied customer

Fuzion rated
I tried the Fuzion, which I'm told is a Good Year New Tire Brand ....they look pretty sporty, handled great in all types of weather....got them on sale for 500 installed but then I traded up....They have from H to Z ratings....fit my factory 16's and made my car look a lot better too. Lost the frumpy mini van tire look in a heart beat......
