gasmileage

Post by ebbie97 »

I just got my activity lights, but given the high gas prices this day and age, I'm a little concerned that I am adding more drag to the Baja and loose my 29 mls/gal mileage.

Has anyone with the activity lights experienced a drop in gasmilage?

I just added the oem ski rack to my Baja. I don't ski, but plan on using it for holding fly rods when hole hopping pull-outs along the river. I haven't compared mileage yet, buy I imagine it will be slightly worse....maybe 1-2 mpg difference. I would guess the lights would be even less drag than a ski rack, though.

Turbo mileage

Post by TonyTyler »

I've been tracking my mileage since new on every tank. I have the lights and the ski rack attached and have tried with the tailgate up and down on various types. What I've found so far (11,500 miles):

Highway : avg 24
City: avg 20.5
Mix City/Highway: avg 22

Mix Tailgate up: avg 22
Mix Tailgate down: avg 20.5

Just thought it might be interesting to compare.

Cheers,
Tony

I do have a Sport and drive all highway miles (about 27,000 a year), with the tailgate down. Shifting at the right time and keeping a constant speed also help a lot.

Reading the responses, I guess i should not complain about my mileage, since it already seems to be above average.

I have the Turbo MT. I average 24 in mostly in town driving. My best tank has been 26 and my worst tank has been 22. I think the altitude, 7,000 ft has something to do with better mileage. I use to get 45 with a Toyota Echo here.
