The limiter on my Titan was 114 mph....though, the only time I saw it at that speed was on the dyno a few times. At 80 mph, I'd only be at about 2,000 rpm. I don't recall where my Baja is at 80, but it's well over 2K at just 70 mph. I agree that a 6th gear would be nice for cruisin'.....although, ya gotta love the fun factor with the 4.44 final gearing!

Anyone know which gear on the AT is a true 1:1?

Maybe I don't have enough automotive background and the answer this question may be a very simple "no," but is there *any* possibility of a tranny swap on the Bajas? I know with my AT this is probably unlikely but what about for the MT folk? It would be nice to have a taller gear in the box, if for nothing more than better efficiency when cruising at 70-75mph. My guess is that the most efficient driving is at the low end of the top gear, which on my AT is around 55 I think.

Have fun testing the limits, but be safe and don't get caught...

So I felt safe that I wasn't endagering anyone but myself! The vehicle did it no sweat, and felt really solid on the road. I was going to push it harder, but then I started to question what the speed rating on on our factory tires are? Anyone know what the Potenzas are rated at? Does any one know what our speed limiters are set at? My last rig was was a Dakota Quad \Cab with a V8 with MT and performance exhaust and the speed limiter on it was set for 115 mph. They set them for 112 mph on the AT. Not very exciting! Not that you want to go that fast in a rig that weighs that much!
They sure could use a 6 speed tranny! :)
Thanks in advance for any reply!

8) Anyone know what the speed rating is on the factory Potenas?ff I don't want to exceed the speed rating. By the way since my last post I have hit 135mph. Love it, but a 6'th gear sure would come in handy!
Anway, you all have fun, but be safe! Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up! 8)

I have had mine to the top speed limiter which is set @ 148MPH I did verify it with my GPS all this with only an intake downpipe fuel pump and 3" exhaust and for those critical people I have many years driving in fast conditions and 6 of them on the autobahns in Germany in a BMW 525 and a BMW M3 thousands of KM's driving speeds in excess of 265KPH and a few 290's. but yeah Bajas will run

8) Checked with my local Les Schwab dealer yesterday, and the stock Potenza's on our Baja's are rated at 130 MPH. Just a litle info for anyone who was curious.

I've had my 03 n/a up to 120. handled it like a pro. The engine was screaming at about 4500rmps but it did well.

I had my 05 Turbo up to 110 or so. I was surprised how solid it felt. Although I could see my hella lights on my light bar protesting such speeds. HEHEH.

127 was the highest I have had mine to date, the suspension and brakes are not the most effective at that speed. I have my speed limiter raised to 166, as I have raised the rev limiter and that should reduce throttle at the speed limiter before it cuts fuel for the rev limiter.

Oh, and I am running tires with a higher speed rating then the OEM tires.

I hit 120 no problem on the freeway with my 04 MT turbo. Is a 6 gear possible for the Baja?

Yeah, but the final gearing won't give much advantage to your top speed. Most of the advantage is in closer spacing of the ratios and stronger gears.
