First snow run, but first window chip too

Post by Flowmastered87GL »

Not necessarily in that order though.... we are having a nasty storm front here in portland.... Super windy here, picked up a piece of gravel from an outback :x

Fortunately chipped the passenger side of the windshield... threw some scotch tape over it to keep crap outta there.

Today... sunny in the morning... then started raining little ice pellets, then snowing... now freezing rain I think.... so I got to test the baja in the nasty stuff.... takes off REALLY nice.... it was a slight adjustment getting used to ABS and no snow tires... had trouble starting on my first downhill slope. Figured it out after that though... use 1st gear. The car is safely in the garge for the night.... im considering a block heater now... as the oil light stays on in the morning for like a half a sec because the oil is taking its time to circulate. (its about 30F and I am running 10W30)

Snow's great!

Had my 06 Turbo for almost a month now and have taken her to the mountains (breckenridge, frisco area) 4 times now. First time I was a little nervous because we had about 14 inches of snow the night before - but she handled beautifully and it's a great feeling to pass all the 2 wheel drivers in the straights and curves! No more going 25 when the weather sucks. I've found that braking is adequate, but not steller. The ABS unit seems to kick in a little early for my taste, but works decently on the snow and ice. Acceleration is no problem at all - I've hardly had any tire slippage from a standstill, even on a steep incline. The roads where I live are still snowpacked and have been for several weeks, so the only downside is that I can't wash her until the temp gets above freezing. Awesome car for the mountains!

I agree that it felt like the ABS kicked in really soon. It did its job though.

I had the chip checked today... its just a small pit, so no repair necessary... its over on the passenger side, so I really wont notice it.
