Front mask/bra for turbos questions??

Hey all - see where Subaru does not approve of a front mask on the turbo. It doesn't seem to block air flow?
Noticed an after market one listed for the Subaru Turbo. Will it work or are they just uninformed?
Does anyone have one?
Please help?
