First post. Wanted to introduce myself and my Baja. I inherited this truck from my parents that bought it new in 2003. I learned to drive manual and even took my driver’s license test in it! The original EJ25 made it to 272k miles before a faulty timing gear took out two cylinders. I’ve wanted to do an H6 swap for years and the engine failure finally gave me the perfect reason.
Specs:
2001 Outback H6 engine and chassis harness swap
Factory Baja 5mt
Exedy stage 1 clutch
2” ADF lift
King Overload Springs
STi aluminum (caster adding) front lower control arms
Whiteline/Truhart adjustable rear control arms
OEM STi 5mt short throw shift assembly
ARE topper
Camlocker bed toolbox

Re: H6 Baja Build
I keep hoping that someone would build a step by step guide covering everything about how to switch in an H6. It is my understanding that it's fairly easy, other than the electrical rewiring that needs to take place.
2003 Subaru Baja
Automatic Transmission
About 215K miles.

Re: H6 Baja Build
A guy in the six swapped Subaru Facebook community is compiling wiring information in an excel sheet as well as designing diagrams to make the swap totally brainless. He’s completing his swap this winter so I’m sure he’ll perfect the documentation by spring.kzaske wrote:I keep hoping that someone would build a step by step guide covering everything about how to switch in an H6. Amazing how Subaru designed everything so well and shared components across models that this looks nothing out of the ordinary - like it belongs there and it came that way from the factory!
Nicely done!

Cool build, that would be so awesome to have an H6 in a Baja! I’m reading that it almost takes having a donor car handy because so much swapping is needed. But so cool though!
