Body Trim Buttons
Hello again! I am missing several of the 1/2" round black body trim buttons around the top of the bed. Do you know what they are called and where can I get them? Any substitute would be fine; don't have to be OEM Subaru.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Body Trim Buttons
We've all been there my friend. Luckily, there's several available options out there:
You can buy them for $12 a piece: https://www.ebay.com/p/Subaru-OEM-03-06 ... 1311305097
OR
Thanks to Allanon93/Bajakyle, if you have access to a 3d printer you can print them!

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Thanks for your reply. They are a bit salty I was thinking more like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/18mm-Round-Fla ... 1igqr0v1uA
35 cents apiece - install with super glue.

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Those will not hold down the bed trim unfortunately. The bed trim is held in by the plastic clip anchors. Basically, they have locking lugs on the sides that you turn into position to lock the trim down, poor design but it's how they did it. I had one break on the rear bottom left pillar when I was installing my roof lights, and thought I could just glue it back on, but now the bottom of the pillar trim slightly vibrates about when driving, and I can pry the trim piece slightly off where the clip was.
EDIT: I should note, if you're just replacing a few then those will work, but they won't hold the trim down if you replace all of them.

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Hey everyone! Those clips are now super cheap from your local dealership. Used to be $10 or something each, I think they're $1 now and ship for free to your dealer. I grabbed about 15 to be safe.

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Jesus are these coming straight from Japan?
I've bought antique rifles for less shipping than this.
EDIT 10/19
Well not as far as Japan, but still pretty far from MD.

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Basically. Most of the world doesn't even know the Shore exists, let alone our own state legislature. On top of that, unless you have a boat you have to cross a toll bridge to get here.

Still though shipping isn't usually this expensive, especially for a package that weighs in at less than 1lb. A Yugo Mauser I bought a few months ago weighed 12lbs with all the packaging, and the shipping on that was $25 flat. What gives?

Re: Body Trim Buttons
Holy cow, thanks for the info!! Grabbed a couple dozen myself.
It was only ~$12 shipping to Missouri, FYI. Still worth every penny!

Re: Body Trim Buttons
I used a penny, with black outdoor tape over the one side. Just a dab of hot glue. A penny is cheap and they fit good.
Re: Body Trim Buttons
I do like the penny idea. I've also done a stainless washer with some threaded rivets on the tailgate. Not enough room for that on the bed sides tho.
I modeled some 3d printed versions up. As usual, I discover someone else has already done it the day after it's done. Oh well. Here's my version: https://www.printables.com/model/212846 ... d-clip-cap

Re: Body Trim Buttons
I currently have all the bed trim off my Baja after having the car painted. I noticed that the moldings are attached to sheet metal brackets and the inner plastics (disintegrated) snap into those wile the outer black buttons (the two that I had left) snapped into the inner inserts. Chicken**** design. I'm planning to rivet small plates where the inners went and / or use tinnerman nuts (clip nuts). I will then use stainless penny sized washers and snaps with sheetmetal screws to finish it out. I can attach a bed cover to the snaps if I want. Dennis
