Hi all,
I'm parting out a 2005 Baja turbo it's got about 140k miles on it. Everything appears in pretty good shape but the turbo is bad and the oil has metal in it. I made a custom bed cover and it's got an aftermarket touch screen carplay compatible radio installed. Did an STi swap on the turbo and the tmic. New Cobb recirc valve. New (pretty massive) fuel pump installed as well. Email roywitty312@yahoo.com or message here for more info.
Sorry guys will report back soon, I'm working on selling the car as is. Feel free to make an offer. It is driveable but definitely puts out a lot of smoke for the first few miles. Not recommended.
Looks like turbo oil feed banjo (union) bolt issue - tiny iscreen inside bolt gets clogged and starves turbo of oil - solution is to reinstall bolt WITHOUT screen otherwise problem will recurr. And other engine oil parts need to be inspected/replaced! For example oil pan - if filled with engine debris banjo bolt filter will keep reclogging and turbo keep failing. Costly fix if dealer does it. I can't believe there is no class action suit as this issue is well known on Forester, Outback, and WRX boards.
