New guy with a Baja

Post by RuhRoh »

Hello all. I just recently purchased an Atlantic Blue Pearl 2006 Baja turbo (5-speed of course) from a dealer in CO. I have been searching for a few years to become my new daily driver.

Now I am by no means new to Subaru since this is now the 6th Subaru I have owned. I first purchased a WRX new in 2006 and that has been my play toy as well as my daily since. I have owned a 2002 WRX (sold), 2006 FXT limited (still have), 04 Impreza wagon TA (sold), 98 Outback (project), and now the Baja.

I plan to get some pictures as soon as the car is shipped to me here in Florida. Goals are to lower it a touch and throw some 18x9 wheels on it, opensource the crappy factory tune off, and fab up a cat-back for some noise. [smilie=666.gif]

After rummaging through the forum I am seeing that. I would rather have the cover but I am seeing those are rare as well.

I like what you've done with your other subies! Can't wait to see how this turns out. You'll probably get some pretty nasty wheel rubbing with 18x9s unless you're running extremely thin tires. Even then, any tires wider than stock or even stock with wheel spacers rub. Some have gone from stock 225-60-16 to 215-70-16 (65 maybe, can't remember) without rubbing...but just a heads-up, you'll probably be doing some wheelwell trimming to get 18x9s to fit. I love how flush wheels look though. I wish the stance were wider from stock.

I think it would look killer with some meat under it. I roll and trim fenders as a side business so I'm sure I can make them fit and look good. It won't be slammed in the dirt but I would like a moderate drop to close up the gap a tad. I am going to test fit the wheels off my wrx to see how bad it is (those are 18x9.5 with a 255/35/18 tire). I would like to fit at least a 245 tire under the fenders but we will see.

Also already have my friends that own a vinyl wrapping company trying to talk me into wrapping it as well (my wrx was wrapped by them, it's actually WRB) so it might not stay Atlantic blue for long. Might make the switch to red.

I like the look of this RGP. I believe it was on Legacy springs. Pic found on Nasioc.
