oil for the Scooby boxer engine

So in my Porsche Boxster 6 cylinder boxer I use 5w40 either dino oil or any brand of 5w40 synthetic. Any thoughts about the Subaru boxer engine? I've been inside one that was 180k and the cylinders had no noticeable wear. Not sure what that owner was using. Have there been oil discussions on this forum?

Personally I use all synthetic (various brands- whichever is cheapest at the time). A Subaru stealership just did my last oil change since I had to get some work done there anyway.
