Has anyone removed the chrome bars in the bed? I know they are structural but was wondering if anyone has done it and had any issues... Subaru of America wouldn't comment on the question (makes sense) and my local subaru dealer said they wouldn't suggest it but had no comment about how much strength they provide.
Thanks.

Removing chrome bars?

Re: Removing chrome bars?
This was just posted on the BAJA FB page. There are pictures of them off (not to my taste) and the guys were saying they didn't seem to have problems BUT it does play a structural role so if you do take them off... it wouldn't be smart to do anything crazy.

Re: Removing chrome bars?
recently removed mine to replace the plastic trim pieces....be prepared to replace the little round plastic clips and covers that hold the trim and some parts of the inner bed liner. you will need to remove all the plastic trim on the upper sides of the bed all the way up to and including the third brake light.
