Wow your brat looks so good. I remember pulling mine out of the paint booth 13yrs ago looking like this. It's nice to see someone going thru one of these old beauties. Can't wait to see the progression!

Re: 82 Brat paint overhaul
While the truck was at the body shop I built a new engine for it:
30 off the heads and port/polish
EA82 SPFI pistons
Delta torque grind cam
EA82 intake manifold
Weber carb
New valves / rod + main bearings
Emissions delete / EGR / aux air etc.
Felpro permatorque head gaskets / OEM gaskets elsewhere
New distributor / wires / plugs
New alternator
New fasteners
New water pump / thermostat
Repaint the tin
Will do a header

Re: 82 Brat paint overhaul
What it looked like when I bought it a year ago, it was a CA car that was garage kept and 99% rust free. The fenders go cleaned up, the lines improved where they were modified for tire clearance. All dents taken out, and epoxy primed over the bare metal.

Re: 82 Brat paint overhaul
The truck had some really nice custom bumpers and a small lift done so I kept those and had them powder coated white, I also have the tall roll bar and had it done as well.

Re: 82 Brat paint overhaul
The wheels are really interesting, they are copies of the stock wheels but done in 14in size, they were made in the 80's by Taylor Made Wheels in CA. I have never seen another set like them. As soon as the truck is back home they are going out for powdercoating.

Got the truck delivered on Friday and started putting it back together today. It has a few weeks to go before it is ready.

Installed the Ranchos today, way better shocks available today but sticking to the stock plus 10% upgrades that could have been done in the mid 80s.
