Nebie with a Baja

Post by Briar »

I bought a 03 Baja Sport last week with 59,000 miles on it, I found it in Santa Fe New Mexico and I took the train from Saldelia Mo to Santa Fe to get it . Everything works good on it but the tranny mount was weak so I had a wrx mount installed before I mad the trip back to Missouri. The Baja did just fine on the trip back but I never got better than 26 miles to gal, but my average speed was 78mph. I wont complain about gas mileage ever again since I just got out of a 14' Jetta tdi and 50mpg was the norm. The clutch on the Baja is really close to the floor so I will be putting one in next week or so. I haven't taken any pictures of it yet so I will post some soon. I also have a 82 Brat but it has been parked for the last few years as parts are getting harder to find and the tranny needs to be rebuilt. The Baja has a matching shell on it and I'm hoping to remove it soon but still have some things to do with a shell on, I hope my dirt bike will fit in the bed it does seem smaller than the Brat, I didn't know that could be possible.

Cool! If you're planning on selling the ARE cap, there are plenty of ready buyers over on the facebook pages.

Even if the bike dosen't fit you can get a trailer for liek 150 bucks online and tow it! The Baja has great towing capability! Welcome!

I was thinking about mounting a removable channel rail to extend the extra length to get the bike in but your correct about the Baja having good towing capacity and maybe a trailer would work better and then I would still have all that covered room in the bed I could use. I already like this site, my Baja had wind noise around the passenger window and I found a tread on here on how to fix it and it took about 2 minutes to fix both sides and it is so quiet in cabin now! I think I will have to do some research to find what kind of clutch to buy, I had a 98 Forester and I don't think installing a clutch should be very difficult maybe a Saturday job. I'm going to make a pulley system in my garage to take the top off to store when I'm not using it, I really liked having one on my Brat and if it's easy to get on and off then why not.
