you're not toying with us are you? I think it should be called the "mergen cover" after that officious prick who said they weren't going to be available available.

Hello Mr. Holland:

I am sorry, as I am not sure as to the meaning of your latest message. I
was not under the impression that I was supposed to be getting back to you
with any news/information. I reviewed our other messages and noted that you
are interested in the hard cover that is standard equipment on the 2005 Baja
Turbo Leather Package. This hard cover is not marketed as an optional
accessory for the other Baja models. It is only offered on the 2005 Baja
Turbo Leather Package as standard equipment and only installed at the
factory.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance. If you need any future
assistance, please feel free to contact us again.

Best wishes,

John J. Mergen
Subaru of America, Inc.

NOW THAT IS A VERY NICE REPLY. And it is nice of him to point out that it is not technically a accessory for 03 and 04, but YOU can try to put it on. Very nice, keep us informed of whats up with this as I am sure others will want to try it if it works out ok for you. Mike

Thanks for that part number ;) #2 should be mine, went to the dealer today...and on a side note, we "found" one of the other 2 yellows that are in the area-an 03 classic yellow was parked in the customer parking area, couldnt find the owner though-left a note with the url of this site, we'll see if another WNY yellow pops up!

BTW, anyone got a link to the pics of the hard cover open? As I recall they open from the front & rear..

bumpity bump

Got a call from my subie dealer today saying that was just the hard cover, no mounting kit. Did your source mention the mounting kit to you when you got that part number? They're telling me that the mounting kit is not even available yet....

Did anyone get the hard cover and install it? How much work to install it and do you like it? How much did you pay for it?

hollandpatrick got his, I cancelled my order...the part number is for the cover only-no mounting hardware. @800 for just the cover if you want to try to get creative & find a way to mount it yourself.

OEM Cover

Post by elfranco »

Hi Everyone, I am new to this site so please bear with me. I own a 2005 Baja Turbo. White with Silver clad. I love my Baja. I tore the tonneau cover the first time I tried to put it on. My dealer wanted $450.00 for a new cover. They told me about of a Hard cover at $1500.00. They also suggested I contact 800-subaru3 and plead my case. I did and they offered me a one time replacement as a goodwill gesture. I went back to hte dealer and bought the cover for $250.00. I had the one I tore repaired for $20.00. Since I did not have the dealer install it I do not know if Subaru will reimburse me now. I was not going to pay the dealer $200,00 to put it on, when I do not want it on at this time, even if SUBARU would reimburse me for it. Maybe I am crazy
Franco
PS Glad to be here with you all
