Traded a 2002 Ford explorer to friend for the baja. She couldnt afford to service it. The ford is caught up on maintenance and has a timing chain she already blewup one engine in the baja due to timing belt breaking so i offered to trade so i would not worry about her.
So we did the servicing on the engine last weekend timing belt kit, reset valves, valve cover gaskets, wires and plugs, oil pan gsskets (twice actually dont use cork and use the torque setting it will break), and changed the oil.
next weedend im getting the transmission flushed by a lube shop because it is way pass due and it is the only thing i wont do. Full brakes and rotors replacement and then new tires. Speakers need replaced and dash lights are all bad so pulling steering will happen. My door needs adjusted oh yeah i need to change oil in the front and rear end differential.

Everyone I've talked to (including the transmission shop I've used and trust) is adamant about not flushing the transmission. It's terrible for it. It's also not necessary. They recommend just changing the fluid and filter (at least my auto has one). Glad you could help a friend (and a Baja) out!
