Lights on the tailgate?

I'd like to remove the lights on the tailgate to apply clear coat, but I can't seem to figure it out.

There are two bolts that I can undo, but it just won't pop out.

Has anyone done this or at least know how?

If you remove the plastic bed liner from the tailgate, then a metal panel, you'll get access to the nuts that hold it in place. I'm not 100%, but if its like all other Soob tail lights it will be 8mm nuts, and you may need a deep socket?

While you're in there, clean and lube the latches and take care of any rust on the release handle for the latch. Also take a look at the license bracket and clean it good while you can easily remove it from the tailgate.

I should have mentioned that I already had the liner and the panel removed.

I saw the bolts, but there were only two on one side of each light. They're towards the center of the the tailgate. The other sides have plastic push-type fasteners. Should it just pop out with enough force like the other tail lights or am I missing some other bolt or bolts somewhere?

It looks like it is only two bolts per side. The lights are maybe also held in place with a body caulk?

Eh. I won't mess with it then. I'll just tape around the lights off and do it in a garage or something.
