Gone: salvageable factory Turbo bed cover parts
Got a killer deal on a Snuglid SL for my Baja, that even matched the body color! It's a bit rough but works fine.
So I removed the two-hatch factory hard cover. Heavy SOB, it is.
It's got all the brackets and hinges. Some rust. the straps don't swivel and are rusted in place so they don't secure well, and the plastic buckles are brittle with age.
Now it's not all roses and sunshine. the locking mechanism to the rear was completely missing. No latch, no lock cylinder, nothing but the cover. The front lock had all the parts but no key or cover, and is disassembled and in a plastic bag with the rest of the hardware. The extra roll of weatherstripping on the cab end that I thought wasn't part of the cover, had to come off in a hurry to fit the Snuglid (I was almost 250 miles from home) so it got tossed.
Seriously sun faded on the textured part. Like "now light grey" faded. The plates where the crossbar mounts to the bed are a bit bent from removal. A couple of the plastic pegs for holding on the cab side plastic trim broke and will need to be replaced. the hinges are solid however, and the whole thing is pretty much all there and usable minus the security features.
I still have to remove the tailgate pin for the rear latch and toss it into the bag o' parts.
So to make this work, you'll need: At least one strong friend, a lot of patience, a good vocabulary of swear words, and either caring not about locking the bed cover or somehow finding the parts that three months of digging didn't discover for me.
Ideally, this is for "parts only".
Will not ship this thing - it's heavier than the Snuglid. It's in San Jose, California. Would like to get $75 or trade for something cool. (other Baja paraphenalia, R/C stuff, etc)
message me here for further info or to seal the deal. Don't have pics yet but can get 'em this weekend if you really want 'em. come get it before I put this on Craigslist and it gets bought up by someone who wants to make an art project or fit it to his Tacoma!
