Baja water coming into cab when it rains. Drain plugged?

Post by beautysmistress »

Hello,
I recently inherited a subaru baja. Lov it.. But there seems to be a leak somewhere.
After a heavy rain the passenger side of front floor board is soaked. Water seems to be traveling down the door frame but without taking it all apart I can't see where its coming from.
Is there some kind of a drain hole somewhere?? Maybe for water coming off the windshield?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hey there,
FYI - Just noticed a damp smell in my '03 yesterday and discovered my passenger front floor was wet along the sill under the floormat. After poking around in that area a bit I discovered that my rocker/sill drain was completely plugged on the side in the front. The entire sill just below the front door lower hinge was packed with dirt! I was able to poke it numerous times with a screwdriver to loosen it up and then blasted it all out with my garden hose. I was amazed at how much crap blew out of there. It looked like a muddy beach under my car after I was done (I checked the driver's side in this area and was amazed to see it perfectly clean) I'm thinking/hoping that this plugged sill drain was the cause of the wet floor. My sunroof drains were nice and clear and the door seals and weatherstripping looked ok. Going to let air out for a few days to dry and do some further testing...

I would definitely recommend to everyone to check this area of the sill for blockage of the drains. You do not want prolonged dampness or standing water in the sill. That is a recipe for rust waiting to happen. I'm now suspecting that may be the cause of the rust most of us are seeing in the driver's side rear door/c-pillar area...

BTW, does anyone know where the A/C drain is located in the engine compartment? I wanted to check that to be sure it is not plugged. I briefly looked under the hood, but did not see anything obvious that looked like a drain...

Peace! [smilie=666.gif]

I'm pretty sure the drain is on the passenger side fire wall, pretty low
