Idk about a screw bouncing around in the trans. But it sounds like you need some new shift bushings. For $60 or however much they are it is worth every penny to replace them. I did mine while the trans was out. I used a set of Perrin front and rear bushings (found a great deal on eBay). I also put the Cobb short throw shifter in while i was in there. It made a huge difference.

Just a heads up if you do end up pitting the bushings in. The rear bushing is going to be a PITA.

So the clutch is now 100 percent shot had to drive it to work but now the sound is gone but it's locked in gear can't get it out to save my life

Why would the sound stop when the clutch gave up this has got me AL confused
