Driving without drive shaft?

Post by Deuce »

I have a 2003 natural aspirated Baja with a manual trans. I'm 90% sure the viscous coupling (center diff) is failing. After driving far enough to get it up to temp it pops like a bad axle when there isn't. Also it pushes really bad in the rain.

My question is Can I drive it without the drive shaft or will it destroy something else in the trans?

You could always pull it and do a test run

I was hoping someone would have input about it causing further damage.
