Drive Lights- P-R-D-3-2-1

Post by lr60 »

How many times have you shifted into "D" only to find that you are really in "3." Sometimes it takes awhile to figure it out, like slightly different sounds and shifting. I found a solution to this problem.

My "D" light burnt out, so I was going to replace all my instrument lights with LED's. I bought some on e-Bay and went through the tedious task of taking out the instrument cluster. I replaced the regular illumination lights and them started to replace the shift lights. They were much brighter than the originals. In fact, too bright.

What I ended up doing was replacing the "3" light with an LED and placing the original in the "D" to fix it. Now, it is really hard to miss when you accidentally shift into "3."

My D light is out, too. I've had the cluster out to replace the bulbs for tach and speedo, but didn't see how to get at the D bulb. How do I do it?

Sorry I didn't get back to you... I forgot about the board for awhile. Hope you found the lights.

I hate landing in "3" instead of "D". I thought of wiring in a key buzzer to the "3" lamp.
