Baja Sport with Auto Trans Dragging
I was wondering if anyone else with an auto transmission feels like there is a lot of drag from the transmission after you let of the gas. As soon as I let of the gas in high gear the car starts slowing down very quickly (feels like engine braking when you let of the gas driving a 5 speed still in gear). I have never felt that much drag coming from an automatic, usually there is a fair amount of coasting instead of feeling of drag. Maybe this is normal but it seems strange for an auto. Anyone have an auto that can weigh in?

I have an automatic transmission on mine. I think what your talking about is normal. All wheel drive is quite a bit of drag.
Re: Baja Sport with Auto Trans Dragging
ive noticed the same on my 05 turbo. I figured my wheels needed an alignment (also get shitty gas mileage), but maybe it's engine related like you say
Re: Baja Sport with Auto Trans Dragging
Maybe this is a normal feeling. This is my first automatic subaru so maybe it is just the design, although I've never felt another auto trans like it in any other manufacturer.

Happy to see this question posted, I was wondering the same thing about mine.
Based on the responses this seems to be common, my 03 feels the same way and I thought something might be wrong. Well, my auto probably does have something wrong due to clunking, slow engagement and brutal downshifts but at least the drag seems normal.
