help! not only is my Baja a funky design, it's also emitting a funky smell.
I used the AC yesterday, and after turning off the AC and just using fans, there is the dis-STINK-t odor of mildew. PO hadn't addressed this before selling, I figure.
I've heard there are places in the system that need to be cleaned out, but I don't know where they are or how to access them.
I think we finally only noticed it since I got rid of the last oil leak last Friday and now there's no smell of oil cooking off the exhaust anymore, the other smells are coming out.
Any advice, links to procedure, photos, etc greatly appreciated!

Re: Mildew smell from AC?
I'm a bit of a smell-nut. I like no odors and just clean freshness.
I'd recommend:
1- Vacuum the entire interior of the car
2- Wipe down all the other surfaces with a very mild vinegar/soap/water solution.
3- Clean out your air conditioning filter compartment with a vacuum then disinfectant spray and let it dry.
4- Put in fresh air filters
5- Keep your windows open more often if possible so fresh air can circulate
6- I use an activated carbon odor absorbing pouch from time to time. I'm not sure if it works but the OCD in me says it's worth $10 every 6 months. I throw them sort've behind the front seats but slightly under the seat so people don't step on them. Don't clog any seat mechanisms with them.
You can also try and spray disinfectant in each of your air vents, including the floor ones and around where the air is drawn in from outside the car but that might be overkill.
