side view mirror

Post by sfeather11 »

So, I'm an idiot and busted my passenger side view mirror glass on a mailbox the other day. :x The mirror folded, but apparently I was still going fast enough to bust the glass. The housing is ok, and the power adjustment still functions fine, just the glass is busted. Has anyone done or know if I can just swap out new glass?

I was thinking I may also use the opportunity to upgrade to heated mirrors, but no one seems to know if the '03s were wired for them. I've only seen '05 and up confirmed...

If I have to get a new assembly, I'll be looking for pre-painted silver housings. I like my body colored mirrors and do not really feel like painting new ones...

Peace! [smilie=666.gif]

Advance Auto Parts lists the glass itself on their website for my 2006. So the glass should be available. Don't't know how much of a PITA it is to swap it in, and I hope I never have to find out.

I'm not sure if this helps or not. I just had the door panel off my 2004 legacy usdm wagon . There's a 6 pole connector the same mirror motor emerges from in the door. Cord side from the body had 5 pins in use. The mirror side had only three. Perhaps they' re pre wired. It's quick to get the panel off to find out.
the hardest part is the trim around the interior handle , then the plastic push nut by the dash.
