Picture request... Activity Light plug..

Post by Rizzo »

Can anyone take a photo of the A/L plug on the roof... or rather, the light end of that wiring.

Also can you tell me how much wire I will get to run up the roof ?

Details about the 2003 relay and how to remove the third brake light cheater way to get to it?

Just out of curiosity, what is this for? If you are specifically interested in the rear lights...I'm not your guy. If you are interested in running additional wires to the roof I used a pretty concealed method.

I ran the wire up the front left pillar and through the roof rails. From there, I sent them through the rails to my lights.

I've seen that.

I've actually read every page on this forum in both the two main Baja sections.

I'm using the factory wiring because I have the switch and the bezel. I'm going totally factory as far as I can.

I took a pic of the harness length in place on top of the roof. (excuse my lameness if it doesn't post) My rack with the lights are in the garage for the winter. The kit has a clip to keep the harness from flopping around. It's been awhile since I installed it, but I seem to remember the harness connects to the main wiring somewhere near the right D-pillar. I think the relay just pops in under the dash... There should be pdf instructions floating around on one of these sires. They will give you more details...

Thanks for the reply.

I was trying to find out how long the harness is from the Baja side, not the light side... I mean, what is in my truck now?

I also read about a neat way of pulling the CHMSL and being able to reach the harness.... truth??

Yeah, it takes a little wiggle room but it can be done, you just need to loosen the plastics around there and you can get away with just prying them to the side rather than fully removing them, that's the way I did it when mounting my top lights.

So you want to know how far the harness actually goes that's integrated into the Baja, right? The integrated part of the wiring for the Baja goes to just right (passenger side) of the high mount center light. The rest is included with the OEM Kit. In the interior the wires run by the passenger side foot well just inside of the door jamb. I've got a Canadian Baja so I was missing the open relay slot by the fuse box because of the heated windshield so when I wired them in I just tapped the wires from the passenger foot well and went from there. You might have to take apart the C pillar a little to check wire colours because they change from what they are at the high mount light or you could try just using the wires from the relay block if yours came equipped with the wiring there (I think all the US models did)

Hopefully that's what you were looking for.
