DOH!!!

I was unloading compost into my garden and I decided to knock the dirt loose on the tailgate.

I lifted the tailgate and dropped it and heard a crunch.....

Thus the DOH!!!

I dropped the tailgate onto the T post of the garden fence and smashed the right side tailgate lens. Not the tail light the lens that is the part of the tailgate.

Any ideas where I can get a new lens and what do I have to remove to get to the bolts holding it on???

just drop the tailgate, then pry off the little plastic cover next to the taillights then remove the x2 10mm bolts then grab the light and pull straight back to the rear...have to pull pretty hard.

Its not the light its the lens that is part of the tailgate.



And is there someplace that is aftermarket I can purchase it as I dont want to pay OEM price...

I love my Baja and I saw the post of all the baja's that were smashed or burned or just plain totaled. Felt a pit in my stomach.

Check ebay. I had to get the side one. It still cost me a pretty penny, (about 2x the tailgate light) and I still had to paint it, but it was cheaper than the dealer by $100+. Actually, to get that light out, take off the plastic panel on the tailgate, then there's a metal panel. Tons of bolts...have fun. Under the metal panel there are two nuts. If you take them both off, give the bolts they were on a little push. It will pop right out.

So I'm not sure what you guys mean by the "lens," but the plastic trim is permanently mounted to the light. There's no option but to paint it.
