Just wondering if any of you have replaced / serviced the timing belt yourself. Mine is a 2006 Sport AT. Should be and looks like a very easy job, relative to my other cars. Best manual?
Thanks.

Re: DIY Timing Belt?
Hey Jim,
Hope all is good your way, This is one of the easiest timing belts you could ask for..I would recommend buying a kit that comes with all the pulleys and water pump...Most of the kits come with instructions so to speak that give you the specs on setting it up...Thanks again for hooking me up with that bedcover.....
Mike
Any issue just pm me your number again and i can give you a call

Re: DIY Timing Belt?
Hey there, just did my timing belt and pulleys yesterday. Not a major job at all. Very straightforward. I watched a couple youtube vids to get an idea of what was involved and they did help. Search for "subaru timing belt change" and you'll get good results. I especially like thevids posted bu "briansmobile"...

As mentioned, make sure you do the water pump at the same time. I also like to pull the oil pump to inspect and reseal it. Pretty much just an o-ring on the back side and the front crank seal on the other. Then its just a bead of silicone around the perimeter. I have on two occasions now found the phillips head screws on the backside of the oil pump loose and partially backed out so I always check those now. It's also a good time to check the front camshaft seals for any possible leaks.
