Will catless down pipe cause CEL or any issues?
Thinking of ordering one since this turbo is off... Turbo blew up after 500 miles after rebuild!

performancewise it will increase the performance of your engine, you'll have less backpressure in your exhaust system...
maybe it will cause a cel, but a p0420 cel won't affect performance/fuel economy
You can also install a o2 emulator/simulator...
who rebuilt this turbo and who installed it ?? is the screen in the banjo bolt that feed the turbo still there ??

Thanks!.... A shop in Holland Michigan installed it... New hoses, gaskets and oil line.... Pure turbo built the turbo...... I bought it with less than 100 miles on the new turbo..... I've had it for a week and yesterday, crushing along on a old hwy.... Not even boost, I started hearing a whine when slowing for traffic.... By he time I drove 4 miles to the house it sounded like someone threw a handful of do me in it!.... I rev'd it and cut it off on e and I could hear the turbo grinding to a hault... About 4-5 seconds until stop after shutdown!.....
I'm new to turbo subaru.... I've only owned old subarus in the past!....

Any chance a name brand for $300 is different than a cheap $80 one???... After all they are just pretty much a straight pipe right?.... No other mods done at this time....
Re: Will catless down pipe cause CEL or any issues?
Well, I called them today about getting my turbo back in the mail to them... They are covering shipping both ways... I found the nut on the compressor side had come off and taken the turbo out... Broke the shaft too.... When I talked to them today, they said most of the time when that happens it is from oil starvation, and the shaft seizes up, brakes the shaft and in turn since the turbo is spinning so fast take the nut off... said the shaft would be blue from overheating,... I looked up the oil return pipe, can see the shaft clearly, its not blue or discolored in any way!...

does it scraped bad did you found that nut ??...
you'll have to remove all the piping and intercooler to clean them from metal debris and hope you didn't damaged your engine...
I highly suggest that you do a compression test in the meantime just to be sure...
also like I said earlier...
on the oil feed banjo bolt on the turbo, look if the screen is still there... if it is still there remove it....
debris can clog it and toast your turbo...

No, I have not found the nut yet... Still looking.... In the process of pulling the intake manifold now... Have all the bolts out and it lifts up like 1/2"... but there is a wiring harness under it that seems to be attached... also the fuel lines run under it and are attached too.... What is the best way to go about getting those off?...
I pulled the intercooler and check in there.... I see no shavings are shavings at all... however looking at the inlet to the turbo, they are some in there... I thing the "pop" sound I heard a few times was the nut getting tossed back up the inlet and hopefully did not suck it all the way through the turbo!....
I checked the banjo bolt on the turbo, no filter installed!.... I need to check the other end of the line though as the receipt says "(2) Banjo Bolts w/filter"... I wanna make sure they removed the other one as well!....
Turbo company said the nut comes off when the turbo locks up from lack of oil, brakes the shaft and spins the nut off.... said that they will check out the turbo when they get it back (most likely Wed next week!), and check for oil starvation, that they shaft will be blue from heat... I shined my light up the oil return, and shaft rotates from both ends and I can see 3/4" of shaft and it looks shiny and clean!....

Re: Will catless down pipe cause CEL or any issues?
If it were me, I would go ahead and do a cartless uppipe as well as the downpipe. These are the bigger problem in my opinion as they can take out a turbo if the catalyst fails and comes apart. If the turbo is off, you should just do both.
You can get a CEL from the missing cats. The easiest thing to do on a turbo model is to switch it off in the ECU. Find a tuner over there you can give you a decent reflash (wouldn't hurt to do it with a catless Uppipe and downpipe anyway since it flows a little more) and they can literally check a box that will turn that CEL off and it will not come on.

Hey Hawk, you are in Michigan too!... Good advice!.... I'm trying to find some AWD dynos around me, but no luck yet!... Anything out your way???... That works with Subaru!?
Re: Will catless down pipe cause CEL or any issues?
There is a place in Plainwell with one, Force Engineering or something like that. I have no idea if they are any good. I think they have a Mustang AWD dyno.
Over in SE MI, Speed Industry has an AWD Mustang dyno also, I have had the Baja on their dyno after I did my own opensource tune. They do a lot of Subarus.
What area are you in? just wondering, the soon to be inlaws live in Kalamazoo so we head over that way somewhat regularly.
