New to me suby and new to the forum!
First I wanna say hi to everyone and thanks in advance for any help! I just picked up an 05' Baja turbo, all stock from what I can tell. It has 235500 aprox miles. I'm realizing it has a few quarks I wasn't aware of when I purchased it. First and most worrying is it's possibly consuming oil. I've read on some other threads that mobile 1 isnt exactly the best for our subys, of course that was after I had already changed the oil in mine using it. Im thinking I'll be changing it out a little ahead of schedule for some Rotella t6 if my symptoms continue. The next thing I'm a little concerned with is the quite regular CEL coming on. When I check it with my reader it sais evap emissions large leak (gas cap loose or off). Obviously I've checked the cap a number of times and is tight and making a good seal. I've also read it could any number of vent hoses or possible other switch/solenoid causing this and am just wanting a concesus before I dig into it to deeply. Again any info would be much appreciated!!

A few years back (approx 5 years) there was a recall for that issue, It was in the sending unit. contact the dealer but check for recalls first. I had mine done thrice, I really distrust dealer service technicians. Im not a too savy a mechanic but I have done alot of research and have taken on the differential bearings and timing belt kits with success. I can, for the first time ever, suggest doing all fluid flushes/replacement after four years or 50k miles. Im seeing the after effects of doing little as possible. I respect fuji/subaru engineering and trust the bloggers on subaru owner sites like this one.
